Anime Appearances
Yes, Minato has appeared numerous times when characters have referred back to him in past tense. However, most of those times, her is simply a still life image, not fully animated. In truth, he first appears animated at the start of episode 01, but you only see the bottom third from the back, his infamous cloak flapping in the wind.
He appeared briefly in the Konoha Annual Sports Festival OVA, walking in the hallway. With the premiere of the Kakashi Gaiden arc on July 30, 2009 as episodes 119 and 120 of Naruto Shippuden, we will finally have a chance to see Minato in all of his wonderful ninja action.
